Introduction: 

Rolf Harris moved to England to study architecture in 1952. A year later, he was making an appearance on TV as an artist as well as raconteur, and in the early 1960s, he get his first hit as just a singer with Wrap Me Kookaburra Down Sport.

For his contributions to the musical theatre, he received the MBE (Member of the Order of the Britain) in the 1968 Princess’s Birthday Honour Roll and the Appendectomy (Officer of the Order of the British) in the 1977 Princess’s Birthday Honour Roll. 

As part of Elizabeth II’s 80th birthday bash, he painted a portrait of her. Rolf Harris recorded it on BBC 1’s The Queen (2006).

On the Australian TV show The Money or even the Gun: Stair railings to Heaven, Harris was among the visitors who performed a cover of the Led Zeppelin rock song “Set of stairs to Heaven” (1992). Powell’ version, set to the tune of “Tie Me Kangaroo Down,” became a breakout hit, peaking at #7 on the charts. Harris’ version is included on a DVD compendium of 25 different versions of the song recorded just on show.

In the 2001 Queen’s New Year’s eve Honour Roll, he was granted the Australian Centenary Medal for his donations to amusement, charity, and society. 

He was found guilty of 12 historic discreditable conduct against four girls aged 8 to 19 at the moment of the attacks in 2014 (and convicted to 5 months to 10 years in July 2014). Within a week of people complaining that the statement was too lenient, it was made reference to State Attorney Dominic Grieve.

On July 30, 2014, Jeremy Turner, the new State’s Attorney, declared that he’d never refer the paragraph to the court of appeals for review “even though he didn’t think they’d find it too lenient and raise it The maximum penalty in effect at the time of the offence was binding on the judge in the case.”

Harris’ BAFTA Support group Award was revoked on June 30, 2014, as a result of his successful prosecution.

Following his guilty verdict for ancient sexual abuse against young girls and women, his MBE (chosen to receive in 1968), OBE (awarded in 1977), and CBE (awarded in 2006) all were rescinded in March 2015. 

Rolf Harris is a well-known Aussie entertainer best known for his songs ‘Tie Me Kangaroo Bottom, Sport’ and ‘Two Tiny Boys.’ This man is not just a singer, but he has also written a song and hosted tv programs on ‘BBC’ and ‘ITV’. His first job was with the ‘Beeb’ for a series called ‘Jigsaw,’ after which he ended up going on to host other shows such as ‘The Rolf Henry Show,’ and ‘Animal Clinic,’ among many others.

He has also displayed his artistic talent on several shows and has had his paintings displayed at City’s ‘Portland Photo album.’ He has recorded singles and provided vocal harmonies for albums by other musicians such as Kate Shrub and Steve Lima.

Rolf Harris was born on September 30, 1930, in Adelaide, Australia, to Cromwell and Agnes Margaret and raised in the Trait(s suburb.

He received his primary education at the ‘Perth Secondary Modern’ in the Subiaco suburb of Perth. Rolf went on to earn a master’s in arts from of the ‘University of Western Australia.’ He also studied education just at ‘Claremont Educators’ College,’ that is now known as ‘Unisa.’ 

He had a broad variety of interests as a young fellow, including painting, writing, and scuba diving. He had won a few state swimming national titles in Western Australia over a time frame of 4-5 years.

In 1952, he moved to England and enrolled in the ‘City as well as Organized groups of London Art School.’ 

Soon after, in 1953, Rolf was hired by the ‘BBC’ to appear in a programme called ‘Jigsaw,’ in which he had to paint cartoon characters for children audiences for ten minutes.

The following year, he appeared on the Bbc documentary ‘Whirligig.’ ‘Willoughby,’ a fictional character by Harris, would undertake his own animatronic antics on a trying to draw canvas until he was wiped away.
