Introduction: 

Stormzy is an English rapper who was born Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr. To date, he has published one remix, one album, two long plays, and seven tracks. In February 2017, he released the single, ‘Gang Signs & Prayer,’ which peaked at number one on the Uk Charts, making it first drum and bass album to do so.

He is also favored to win ‘Best Grime Behave’ at the MOBO Awards in 2014 and 2015. Stormzy began as a road rap artist, rapping in a style more akin to hip hop than gunk. 

He then started to make Youtube clips, but it wasn’t until the rap artist began posting his Wicked Skengman mash ups that he gained widespread attention. He ultimately became well-known and entered the music business.

Stormzy has since emerged as among the most influential artists to keep an eye on. “Shut Up,” a BPI metal track that was originally released on YouTube, is his most successful single to date.

The music was then released publicly, and it quickly rose to #8 on the Singles Chart. Stormzy is currently engaged to Maya Ma ka, a UK television presenter. He describes himself as a “child of grime,” impacted by artists such as Skepta and Williams. 

Stormzy was founded on July 26, 1993, in Mcleod Heath, London, as Michael Abscess Kwadjo Omari Policies to address Jr. He was raised by women and has 3 brothers. Stormzy is of African heritage. He is the kin of Nadia Rose, a BBC Sound of 2017 candidate.

He attended Harris Academy South Norwood for his education. He began rapping at the age of 11 and performed with other rap artists at his local youth centre. 

During a Q&A session at Oxford University in 2016, he discussed his school days. He admitted that he’d been a very roguish school child, doing everything roguish for his own amusement. Despite his misbehaviour, he was able to pass his exams with flying colours.

Stormzy attended Full – service Spa for an internship and started working throughout quality assurance at a refineries for about 2 years prior to actually pursuing a filled musical journey. 

Stormzy rose to prominence in the UK underground scene with his “Wicked Skengman” freestyles. In 2014, he released his debut Lengthened Play, titled ‘Optimists Disease.’ That same year, he performed the song “Not That Deep” on the TV show ‘Later to Jools Netherlands.’

Stormzy also appeared in a number of rap videos in 2014, such as Chip and Shalo’s “I’m Fine,” Avelino’s “Neither Comment,” Professor Brown’s “Hugs & Kisses,” and Wiley’s “Did Grow up In,” to mention a few. 

In March 2015, he released the song “Know Myself From,” which peaked at #49 on the UK Singles Chart and was later certified silver by BPI. In Sept. 2015, the rapper released “WickedSkengMan 4”, the final sections . section of his “WickedSkengMan” freestyle series, and a studio variant of his “Shut Up” freestyle.

His song “Shut Up,” from “WickedSkengMan 4,” debuted at #59 on the Billboard Hot 100. He recorded the song at a boxing match in December 2015. Following the achievement, the song began to climb the iTunes chart. The song ultimately peaked at number eight. 

In 2015, he also appeared on a number of remixes, including Yungen’s “Ain’t On Nuttin’,” Raleigh Ritchie’s “The Greatest,” and Nick Jonas’ “Chains.” In addition, he worked with P Cash, Big Narstie, and Young’s modulus Teflon on the non-album single “TRKRZ.” Wizkid and Lethal Bizzle published the quasi single “Dude” the same year.

He released the non-album solitary “Scary” in April 2016. He popped up in the remix song “Feed ‘Em to a Lions” that year, alongside Fekky, Tempa T, Lethal Bizzle, Rou, and Wiley.

This same rapper also collaborated with other artists and appeared on a number of new songs as a guest vocalist, including Chip’s “Hear Dis,” Tanika’s “Out Here,” Raye’s “Aspiration,” and Ray BLK’s “My Hood.” 

Stormzy was a guest artist on Solo 45’s “5ive,” Little Taylor’s “Power,” and Ed Sheeran’s “Contour of You (Remix)” singles in 2017. It was published in July 2018 that he is collaborating with the publishing corporation Penguin House Party to launch a new indelible mark called #Merky Books.

Stormzy released his debut album, ‘Peace Signs & Prayer,’ on Feb 24, 2017. It debuted at number one on the Uk Charts. The hit singles “Cigs & Cush,” “Big for Your Shoes,” “Cold,” and “Led astray by Your Grace, Pt. 2” are included on this album.

“Big for Your Shoes” was a huge hit, peaking at #6 on the Songs chart. It was later awarded platinum status by BPI. His single “Distracted by Your Grace, Pt. 2” reached #7 on the Songs chart and was certified platinum.

Personal Life of Stormzy 

Stormzy issued an apology in November 2017 after it was revealed that he had earlier posted anti- – gay messages on Twitter. Among the messages was one in which the rapper referred to a transgender character on the British soap opera ‘EastEnders’ as a “freaking fag.” Stormzy also called out another Twitter user, asking, “Are you a pervert?” and prompted his fans to share the message, “This black boy is a fucking fag,” on social networks. 

Stormzy is currently engaged to Maya Jama, a well-known media personality. The couple has been here for over 3 years and once publicly expressed their feelings for each other in a Vogue magazine article. Stormzy even wrote a song for his girlfriend’s 22nd b’day as well as commonly did mention her on social networks.

He backed Corbyn in 2016. The rapper voiced support for the New Labour leader’s activism in a question and answer session with ‘The Guardian.’
