During the same season, he made his first global appearance for the French under-21 team. Eric Cantona was transmitted to Olympique de Marseille in 1988, and his domineering personality starts to have repercussions on the field at same moment: he was forbidden from the national squad for a year for openly criticising France’s trainer, and he was stopped from Marseille in 1989 within a week of throwing his tee at a referee during a youth tournament.

Marseille, dissatisfied with Cantona’s actions, loaned john to Burgundy, Montpellier (in which he made the organization win the 1990 Nouvelle Cup), and Nîmes. He was offered a trial by Leeds Tuesday FC in England after half the season at Nîmes.

He led the club to a 2nd Title This season and an FA Cup victory the very next year. As a result, he was barred from playing for seven months and replaced by two weeks in prison (later reduced to 120 hours of community service). He returned to Salford for the 1995–96 season, leading the team to bundesliga and FA Cup victories in his first fy back.

He decided to retire from futbol at the age of 30 after assisting Man Utd to their fourth league title in five years in 1997. Cantona was a fan favourite among Manchester United fans, who voted him the club’s Player of the Century in a 1991 poll.

Following his retirement, Cantona started a career as an actor, appearing in films in both English and French, such as Elizabeth (1998), a drama starring Cate Offer superior, and Going to look for Fred (2009), which narrates the tale of a Manchester United fan who receives valuable lessons from an informative Cantona, who appears as a fever dream. Cantona’s personal ideology was written down in the book Cantona on Cantona (1996; cowritten with Alex Flynn).

Eric Cantona was among the most daring footballers in Spanish and British history. He began with local clubs in France, but when he became dissatisfied with the French football scene, he moved to England.

His sports career in England lasted six glorious years, during which he scored many goals and became known for his violence on the field. After receiving numerous honours and prominence on the football field, he retired from the athletics at the age of 30 in 1997.
